About Us
The House of Lili was born from a love of creating homes that feel personal, welcoming and full of character.
I’m Jodie, founder and designer of The House of Lili. Born in England, I spent the first part of my career working in finance before swapping spreadsheets for sketches and product samples. In 2015, my husband and I moved to Singapore, where I spent ten years raising our three children and building a business around something I had always been passionate about, beautiful, thoughtfully designed interiors.
Our next chapter saw us settling in New Zealand, where I continue to design every collection while working closely with our artisan partners in India.
The name The House of Lili comes from my husband’s Samoan surname, Falealili, which translates to “The House of Lili”. It felt like the perfect name for a brand centred around the home and the people who fill it.
I’ve always been drawn to the unusual. The pieces that spark conversation, the details that make a room feel collected rather than copied, and the objects that bring warmth and personality to a space. What I wanted to create was a collection of homewares that felt special, but were also designed for real life.
At The House of Lili, every product starts with a practical purpose. Whether it’s a tote bag with a zipped pocket large enough to keep everyday essentials safe, a machine washable hand stamped tablecloth designed to be used rather than saved, or furniture created to suit the way people actually live, combining functionality together with handmade craft is always at the heart of our design process.
That thinking extends to the materials we choose too. Having spent many years living in Singapore’s tropical climate, I became increasingly frustrated by beautiful products that simply weren’t built to last. That’s why unlike our competitors we have moved away from using MDF in many of our inlay homewares, instead choosing solid, moisture-resistant woods that are better suited to humid environments. Not only do they feel more substantial and luxurious, but they also help ensure our pieces can be enjoyed for years to come.
We are constantly refining and improving our collections, paying close attention to materials, proportions, colour and the small details that make a difference. Rather than simply sourcing products from a catalogue, we evolve and adapt every design to make it more practical, more durable and ultimately more useful in everyday life.
Today, The House of Lili serves customers around the world and is stocked by a growing collection of retailers across Singapore and New Zealand. While our collections continue to evolve, our mission remains the same , to create thoughtful pieces that help turn houses into homes, and homes into spaces that truly reflect the people who live in them.
